Bartlein Barrels, Inc.
Manufacturers of Precision Single-Point Cut Rifled Barrels. "On the Cutting Edge of Barrel Technology"
About Bartein Barrels - We are experienced shooters, reloaders and hunters who have been working in the firearms industry for over 15 years, everything from working for a barrel maker to retail firearms sales. Together, we have been involved in firearms for over 30 years.
We always look to expand our knowledge in the firearms field and improve firearms that are being designed and existing models. Everything from hand guns, bolt action hunting rifles, competition rifles and even machine guns. Our desire is to make the best and be the best.
The uniformity in our barrels and finish of the bores is second to none. Our rifling machines are so accurate, we can carry the twist rate to the 4th decimal point (example: 11.3642). The process of Single Point Cut Rifling is the most stress free way to rifle a barrel. The twist is exact, where as other forms of rifling can have variances due to the process they use. Also, the bore and groove dimensions are more uniform.
We pre-lap our barrels before rifling and finish lap the barrel after rifling. There is no need or under any circumstances, should you fire lap or do any other sort of bore polishing to the barrel. Contrary to what others say, a lapped barrel will not wear out earlier vs. an unlapped one. In our experience, our barrels will typically last longer than a button barrel, etc.
"T" Style Rifling
Bartlein Barrels have the capability to produce rifling twist rates in virtually any combination. Some will call this Gain Twist, Progressive Twist, Incremental Twist, etc....for now we will call it Transitional Rifling or T Style Rifling.
For instance, we can do a .338 barrel starting from a 1-14 twist at the breech and end up at a 1-7 twist at the muzzle, regardless of barrel length. The rifling twist can uniformly increase throughout the entire length of the barrel. This can be used for bullets with driving bands on them.
For a .22 rimfire shooter or a cast lead bullet shooter, we can increase the twist very slowly. As an example, from 1-16.25 at the breech and end with 1-16 at the muzzle, on any length of barrel being made. The rifling machine will automatically calculate out the twist rate over any given length of the barrel.
We can rifle any barrel like the above examples or we can even do it completely custom where we manually enter in what the customer wants for twist per any given dimension/length of barrel. As an example, we can start rifling a barrel and the twist only go .010 for the first 3 inches and for the next 3 inches we can have it increase by another .015 per inch. In short, we can custom program any twist of rifling into any rifle barrel we make.
